So you think you will make money?

Please! The only people who make money are the owners of gambling websites!

You are not gambling round a table where the cards are randomly dealt from a pack. You are playing cards dealt by a computer that can be programmed to deal whatever card, or throw the dice, it wants to - when it wants to.

Some programs say that the house does not play and that you will be playing against other people from all over the world. Please! The 'other players' are computer generated robots - you are still playing against a machine with many 'faces'.

The sole object of a gambling website is to make money.

These websites make so much money they employ the best programmers and designers to attract you. Gambling and porn websites are at the cutting edge of web design and are very clever sites to study to see how they do it.

They 'give' you a pile of chips to start with - you might well win to begin with.

BUT YOU WILL LOOSE IN THE END, and you will loose with YOUR money and not theirs.

Have you played Microsoft Backgammon? The game that comes free with Windows? It is a good example of playing dice with a computer. Just when you think you might be winning the computer throws itself wonderful dice and beats you. The program controls the dice it throws for you and the computer.

Now take that a stage further and see what a computer that is brilliantly programmed can do with your money!

I am not against gambling as such and I enjoy a flutter at the horses and an evening in a casino. I only loose what I can afford to loose and sometimes I even win. Playing chemin de fer or poker with others round a table is a blend of skill, deduction and luck and very entertaining.

BUT, the house takes care to shuffle the cards and has no control over the cards dealt. It is pure chance. That is NOT the case with a hand dealt by a computer.

You are playing with people who can have all the skills and failings of humans. NOT the case with computer robots. I remember my father telling me that his dog never really played poker well because every time it got a good hand it wagged it's tail!

Play online if you want to - the Internet is a 'Freedom Zone' - but I would take care to loose only what you can easily afford to loose and then STOP.

If you are winning then don't be too greedy and stop while ahead of the game. Don't let the program suck you in and bleed you dry.
